Kumkum Bhagya: Tanu Striking A Deal With Pragya Is Reminding Us Of Urmila Matondkar-Sridevi’s Conversation From Judaai

Kumkum Bhagya has become a battleground with Pragya (Sriti Jha) fighting with Tanu (Leena Jumani) for Abhi’s (Shabir Ahluwalia) freedom. During Abhi’s bail hearing, Pragya tries to save Abhi by submitting his medical certificate but that is not convincing enough for the judge. But he gives her three days to prove his innocence. When Pragya pleads asking Tanu to take back her case, the latter strikes a deal with her. Tanu demands to marry Abhi in return for his freedom, similar to how Urmila Matondkar offered some money to Sridevi to marry Anil Kapoor in Judaai. While Pragya hasn’t made up her mind yet, we think she’ll end up sacrificing her ‘kumkum’ if that helps Abhi come out of jail.

Interestingly, something similar happened in the movie Judaai. Urmila Matondkar playing the role of Janhvi falls in love with Raj (Anil Kapoor) after he saves her from getting raped. Janhvi gets to know that Raj adores his wife but is married to a woman who is greedy and would do anything for money. She then meets Kajal (Sridevi) and offers a hefty amount to marry Raj.

Following Janhvi’s footsteps, Tanu has also put Pragya in a dilemma where she has to choose between her husband’s freedom and her marriage. While Sridevi in there had a choice and her decision was backed by mere greed, Pragya, here, is helpless.  While we aren’t aware of her decision, it would be interesting to see what she picks. Will she agree to let Tanu marry Abhi or will she think of ways to save her ‘kumkum’?
