Late Filmmaker Kalpana Lajmi’s Mother Lalitha Lajmi Opens-up On Soni Razdan And Alia Bhatt’s Financial Help

Filmmaker Kalpana Lajmi breathed her last on September 2018, at the age of 64. She was diagnosed with Kidney cancer, both of Kalpana’s kidneys had stopped functioning, and had a severe case of Urinary Tract Infection (UTI). As a result, she had to undergo regular dialysis at that time. Today is the third death anniversary of the Kalpana Lajmi, on the same account, her mother, veteran artist Lalitha Lajmi spoke about her life and death.
Veteran painter Lalitha Lajmi while talking to a leading portal went on to mention all those who came forward to help her in her final days. She revealed that Alia Bhatt and Soni Razdan offered financial help for Kalpana’s dialysis till the end. Even actor Aamir Khan offered his helping hands and was the first person to offer help at that time.

Lalitha Lajmi in an interview said that Kalpana had to undergo regular dialysis and Aamir Khan was the first person to offer help. He sent cheques directly into her account while some other directors also contributed. Soni Razdan and Alia Bhatt paid for her dialysis till her last breath, and they were also extremely close to Kalpana Lajmi. Alia was born in front of her and she is deeply grateful to all those who helped.
Later filmmaker Kalpana Lajmik had thanked Bollywood celebrities for helping her out in November 2017. While doing so, she said that Aamir Khan, Rohit Shetty, Salman Khan, Karan Johar, Alia Bhatt, Soni Razdan, Neena Gupta came forward to help her during the worst and so she is thankful to her film fraternity for standing by her. Back then she went on to thank her mother, brother, and Shyam Benegal for their constant support.

While talking to a leading news portal, Lalitha Lajmi opened up about Kalpana’s relationship with legendary singer Bhupen Hazarika. She said that she had no issues with Kalpana being in a live-in relationship with Hazarika. But what she minded was their age gap.
Talking about Kalpana Lajmik’s contribution to the Bollywood industry, she made many women-centric movies including Rudaali, Daman, Chingari, and Ek Pal. Her film Rudaali was the Indian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 66th Academy Awards in 1994.
