Lyca Productions has decided to take director Shankar to the court as their collaboration, ‘Indian 2’ has been stuck for the last few years. Have a look at the details.

Director Shankar seems to have landed in fresh trouble as Lyca productions has decided to drag him to court. The production house and the director had been planning to work together on a Telugu project named Indian 2 but the film has been on a standstill ever since it was announced. According to various reports, the film could not be carried forward due to Kamal Haasan’s date availability. The actor has lately been busy with his political career and hence, has been unable to commit dates to this project. Indian 2 was also expected to star celebrated actors like Rakul Preet Singh and Kajal Aggarwal. This film is the second instalment of the 1996 blockbuster Indian, which was also directed by Shankar and starred Kamal Haasan as Senapathy Chandra Bose.

Popular director Shankar has lately been in the news ever since he announced the Hindi remake of his blockbuster Tamil film, Anniyan. According to the video attached above, Lyca Productions has decided to move to court against director Shankar as his film, Indian 2 has not been making any progress in the last two years. The production house wants the director to commit that he will not sign any more projects without completing the film Indian 2. The film had been announced in 2019 but there has been no development on it, mainly due to Kamal Haasan’s availability. The makers have also witnessed a few other obstacles in the last few months, making it difficult to commence the project.

Previously, producer Venu Ravichandran had moved to court after director Shankar announced the Hindi remake of the 2005 blockbuster, Anniyan. The producer had been of the stance that he still has the rights to this project and the director has not taken permission from him before announcing the film. Reports had confirmed last month that Shankar will be making a Hindi version of the film which will star Ranveer Singh in the lead role.
