Meet Aashram’s Bhopa Swami Aka Chandan Roy Sanyal Who Unveils His Love For Minimalism

Prakash Jha’s crime-drama web series Aashram created quite a buzz online with its gripping plot line. However, the character Bhopa Bhai/ Bhopa Swami emerged as one of the fans’ favourite. Essayed by Chandan Roy Sanyal, the actor in an interview with India TV unveiled the inspiration that drew him to play the role of an antagonist in the show. While doing so, Chandan Roy also revealed his love for minimalism.

During the interaction, when asked about his distinct look and negative role, the actor went on to say that he doesn’t like to do things ‘over the top’. Instead, he believes in the power of minimalism. Talking more about his role, Chandan Roy added that he did not have to scream, do action-packed scenes to nail his role as a villain. With his instincts, he managed to portray the villain on screen which was later appreciated by many.

Amongst many lesser-known facts about Chandan, one is that he cooks his own food very often. However, while explaining his cooking expertise, the actor shed light on his acting prowess too. He compared both the activities and revealed the common thing that is required to nail both. According to Chandan, just like small ingredients add flavour to food, even minimalism in acting helps one gets into the skin of their character.

“That’s the kind of acting I like to do onscreen. With small things, little things, done carefully, made carefully without using artificial things”.

With Diwali being around the corner, the actor did not unveiled his plans for the upcoming festivity. The actor added that although he won’t burst crackers, he will surely clean his house and make sure to enlighten his house with diyas.
