Mere Qatil Mere Dildaar: A Courageous Woman’s Fight Against Sexual Harassment

Here’s a sneak-peek into Maham’s tragic life:

They say everything is fair in love and war. But, is it really so? This family-drama series tackles this question through different angles. Essayed by actress Mehwish Hayat, Maham is a young woman in her 20s. She is madly in love with Umer, played by Ahsan Khan, who loves her back. Umer’s family does not approve of their relationship. But, the young lovers finally get married after Umer’s elder brother, Bakhtyar persuades them to give their consent. But Bakhtyar has other sinister plans.

Maham goes to her in-laws’ house, where Umer’s father (Qavi Khan), Bakhtyar (Adnan Siddiqui), Bakhtyar’s wife Rubab (Semra Zubair), Umer’s paternal aunt Durdhaana phuphu (Shagufta Ejaz), and her daughter Shifa (Sajal Ali) all live together. Actress Sajal has worked with late actress Sridevi, and actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, in the Bollywood film MOM. After Maham meets Bakhtyar personally, she learns that he was the man who has been stalking her all this while. Bakhtyar threatens her to keep her mouth shut.

One day, Bakhtyar sexually harasses Maham in their house. Suffering atrocities at the hands of Durdhaana also, Maham decides to tell everything to Umer. But he never speaks against his aunt or older brother. When Bakhtyar is caught red-handed molesting Maham, he succeeds in putting the entire blame on her. As a result, Umer ends up divorcing Maham. Once she is gone, Umer complies to marry Shifa as Durdhaana always wanted him to do so. Maham is devastated to see the love of her life going away in front of her eyes.

Boiling with rage and revenge, Maham comes back and marries Bakhtyar. One by one, Maham avenges all her insults, at the receiving end of which are Durdhaana, Shifa and Bakhtyar. Umer is deeply disturbed by the sight of Maham, as his brother’s wife. On eavesdropping on Durdhaana and Bakhtyar, Umer learns that all of this was their conspiracy and he realises his mistake. He divorces Shifa, runs to apologise to Maham, and begs her for a second chance. Holding on to her self-respect, Maham doesn’t respond and only leaves a letter behind.
