Mike Tyson, the famed American former professional boxer, will be seen in ‘Liger,’ after a lot of speculation and rumours last year. The directors of Vijay Deverakonda’s film made the announcement today. A poster with VD’s half-face opposite Tyson’s half-face can be seen in the tweet by the makers. Vijay himself has published the same poster on his social media account.

 

Vijay is thrilled to have Tyson for the movie

Vijay Dverakonda’s excitement can be apparent in his tweet, in which he states the film has promised you mayhem, and we are just getting started with this news. Baija introduced Tyson as the baddest man on the globe, the god of boxing, the legend, the GOAT and shared a poster of himself with Tyson. 

 

Liger will be a power packed action thriller

The movie will see Puri Jagannadh directing it with the backdrop of Mixed Martial Arts. Jagannadh’s film. And Tyson will play a huge and important part. With the addition of Tyson, the producers claim that ‘Liger’ has become a global endeavour. ‘Liger,’ directed by Puri Jagannadh and produced by Charmme Kaur, Karan Johar, and Apoorva Mehta, would be released in all major South Indian languages as well as Hindi. The cast includes Ananya Pandey, Vishu Reddy, Ali, Makarand Desh Pandey,Ramya Krishnan, Ronit Roy, and Getup Srinu.

While this will be the first time we see the boxing legend on the big screen, it is not the first time he has been contacted to appear in a film. Producer Firoz Nadiadwala is said to have approached the champ in 2007 for his film ‘Fool n Final.’

The film ‘Liger’ was supposed to be released in September 2020, however it was postponed due to the pandemic. In a joint statement, Johar and Deverakonda expressed worry over the rise in COVID-19 instances in India and explained why the teaser trailer for the film was delayed. Liger is slated for a theatrical release in India. It will be available in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.
