Zee Bangla’s popular serial Mithai stars Soumitrisha Kundu as Mithai and Adrit Roy as Siddhartha Modak in lead roles. Siddhartha lives in a joint family which consists of his father, grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins. Although Siddhartha is mostly aloof and doesn’t like engaging in too many family activities, his cousins are exactly the opposite. Although a cluster of different personalities, together they are a fun bunch. The cousins’ gang has Som, Sritoma, Nanda, Nipa, Sandip, Rajib and Ratul. The group is quite tight-knit and shares a bond which in turn reminds us of our own siblings.

Relentless teasing
Are you even a sibling if you don’t constantly keep teasing the other one? We can all agree that the most annoying and yet the sweetest part of having a sibling is them teasing you for anything and everything. In the same way, Siddhartha’s cousins are also bickering with each other all the time. Whether it is Sandip and Rajib teasing Nipa for her love for social media or it is Nipa teasing Sandip for his profession as a TV show writer, the squabble seems to be a constant in the Modak household.
Pillars of support
Although annoying at times, siblings are the constant pillars of support and strength in each other’s life. Siddhartha’s cousins are always there for one another in times of need. One time when Siddhartha criticised Sandip for his laid-back attitude, it was Sritoma who stood up against her brother and fought in support of Sandip. She told Sid that although Sandip might have a more laid-back attitude, he is very welcoming to his family and cousins, unlike Sid. Doesn’t this remind us of our own siblings and all the times they stood by us like a pillar?
Hangout buddies
Isn’t it always fun to hang around with siblings and cousins? That is a usual scenario in the Modak household. The gang is seen enjoying themselves in each other’s company and they bring about a jovial atmosphere in the house. They are often seen playing games and dancing to Bollywood songs in their free time. Doesn’t it all remind you of the fun moments you shared with your brothers and sisters?
Fierce protectiveness
We have all created troubles and have been on the receiving end of scolding from our parents. It was always our siblings who stood up for us like a knight in shining armour. In a recent episode, Siddhartha turned out to be the knight when Samaresh raised his hand on Som. He not only stopped Samaresh but also told him that he was wrong in scolding Som.

A bond that is indispensable
They might keep fighting the whole day, but Siddhartha‘s cousins can’t live without each other’s company. They are each other’s best friends and are often seen confiding in one another when they can’t seem to find a way around the hurdles of life. That is the case with all brothers and sisters. They might make our lives miserable with their childish pranks and annoying comments, but it is always them that we turn to when life throws us curveballs.
We hope the love and friendship among the Modak cousins remain the same in the future and they continue to entertain us with their antics.
