Monday Motivation: 4 Things To Learn From Super Singh Sajjan Singh Aka Diljit Dosanjh

The 2017 Punjabi film Super Singh has everything to give you a paisa-wasool experience. The film has a fabulous story, a promising cast in Diljit Dosanjh, Sonam Bajwa, and Pawan Malhotra, as well as breakthrough VFX. The film itself opens up a new universe of the superhero genre in Pollywood. The titular character played by Diljit Dosanjh both entertains you and teaches you a few important things about life. Let’s take a look at the moral lessons the film gives us.

1. Stay Rooted

Diljit’s character Sajjan Singh is ashamed of his identity. He inspires to be ‘cooler’ and tries his level best to be like his firangi friends, especially his crush Cathy. Sam..yani Sajjan hates his Punjabi heritage. He doesn’t really care about maintaining his uniqueness, until his little friend Happy Singh shows him the value of it. After that, Sajjan realises how important is it to maintain one’s identity and how proud one should be of one’s cultural heritage. Apne virse ko bhulne wale… Sajjan se kuch seekhen.

2. Don’t Take Relationships For Granted

Another flaw of Sajjan Singh is that he takes people and relationships for granted. He falls for the wrong people and ignores those who really love him. Twinkle (Sonam Bajwa) bechari pind se Canada aayi for Sajjan, but Sajjan is silly enough to neglect her for Cathy. For Sajjan, Twinkle is just a shoulder to cry on. However, der se hi sahi, Sajjan realises Twinkle’s worth. This moment teaches us that we too should look into our own lives to find hidden gems like her.

3. The Bravery To Correct Your Mistakes

Sajjan commits a lot of mistakes, but the best part about him is that he dares to accept and correct those mistakes. When he realises the stupidity of giving up his identity for Cathy, he apologises to God and breaks all ties with her. When Sajjan realises his love for Twinkle, he follows her to India and confesses his love for her. Sajjan hands over his special turban to Rehmat (Pawan Malhotra), but when gets to know the evil intentions of Rehmat, he tries to stop him. Hum sab galtiyaan karte hai…but jo himmat kar ke galtiyaan sudharta wohi sahi maainey main insaan hota hai. 

4. Never Quit Trying

Woh suna hoga, ‘It’s never too late’ or ‘keep punching’. Sajjan bhi kuch aisa hi hai. Even if he has few flaws, this is an exceptional quality in him. Sajjan believes that there is always time to undo or unravel a complicated situation. Just imagine that you have hurt your friend or your partner, unknowingly. The person leaves you and after some time you realise your mistake. What will you do next? You will try to communicate… agar nahi hua toh maybe you’ll let it go. But that’s where Sajjan shines. He travels thousands of miles to rectify his mistake, without knowing if Twinkle will forgive him. This is because of his positive attitude and perseverance. We can learn to keep on fighting from his example.
