Mouni Roy recently took to social media to announce details about an initiative that is being run by the Iskcon Foundation in Bengal. In the video shared, the actor can be seen speaking about the current COVID 19 condition and how it has been affecting the people, especially in the interior parts of the country. The actor spoke about a village called Mayapur where people do not have access to proper healthcare facilities even when they are dealing with a pandemic. She announced that Iskcon Mayapur is building a 50 bed COVID care centre with ventilators and oxygen to help the people in this area. Actor Mouni Roy also made an appeal to her fans and requested them to contribute in whichever ways they can.
Mouni Roy recently shared a video on her Instagram where she encouraged her fans to contribute to the initiative and help the people of Mayapur. She shed some light on the village and its geographical location as well. She revealed that the village is situated in the interior region of West Bengal, 135 km away from the city of Kolkata. Mouni Roy also stated that over 40,000 people in this region fall below the poverty line and hence there is immense distress due to unemployment and lack of resources. She stated that the numbers have been on the rise in this village and even the smallest contribution can help the people in several ways. The actor also assured that this foundation will not just help the COVID patients but also the people living in nearby areas with food and essentials.

The villages in India have been heavily affected by the pandemic and the lack of health facilities here have led to an increasing number of deaths. According to a report by a leading news agency, small villages in Uttar Pradesh have witnessed several cases where patients could not reach the COVID care facilities since they were kilometres away. With minimum response from ambulances and a lack of modes to transfer patients, various people have lost their lives due to negligence on both central and state levels.
