Nerkonda Paarvai Review: Ajith Delivers A Compelling Performance In This Courtroom Drama
BollywoodCheck out our review of Thala Ajith’s Nerkonda Paarvai.
‘No means No’, is a statement that took the entire nation by a storm. It was an eye-opener for Bollywood buffs and to everyone who watched Pink. Ajith stepped into the shoes of Amitabh Bachchan to pass on the same message to all of his fans down South and worldwide. Nerkonda Paarvai aired on ZEE5 yesterday as a Diwali treat for fans. Thala Ajith is impressive in this gripping courtroom drama. He grabs the viewer’s complete attention every time he is on the screen.
Shraddha Srinath, Abhirami Venkatachalam and Andrea Tariang play the victims in the film. The girls do complete justice to their roles in the film. What works best for the film is how the director, H Vinoth, has balanced out the courtroom scenes by adding a fight sequence for all the fans who love watching Thala’s massy scenes. Even better, it’s not a random fight sequence and is well justified in the script. Ajith’s monologue at the end in the courtroom is a compelling speech that you would want to remember for the rest of your life.

Another beautifully written scene was when the actor spoke about patriarchy and why it must end now. You can’t help but relate to it. Ajith does complete justice to the screenplay by Vinoth. The supporting cast did a fairly decent job in the film. Nerkonda Paarvai is an important film to watch not just for all the men out there but for women, too. It’s not just Ajith’s performance in the film that stands out but it’s also the writing, screenplay, direction and music that does. Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed music for the film.
Vidya Balan has a cameo in the film, which is also her debut in the Tamil film industry. Her chemistry with Ajith onscreen puts a smile on your face. What I really loved about the cameo was that it was not dragged. It was crisp since it was just a flashback of Ajith’s character. In fact, the director makes sure that the writing is crisp and to the point instead of beating around the bush a lot, because the message that comes with the film is an important one; it cannot get lost in all the drama.
Nerkonda Paarvai is a must-watch for everyone. It talks about the cons of patriarchy, the importance of the word or rather the sentence ‘No’ and a lot more. You will not want to leave your couch before the courtroom drama ends completely.
