Pakeezah, Deewaar Art Director Marutirao Kale Dies Of COVID-19 Complications

Famous Bollywood Art Director, Marutirao Kale who worked in films like Pakeezah and Deewar lost his battle to COVID-19 after fighting it for a month.

The world has lost a huge number of lives in the past one and a half years. While many lost their battles to COVID-19, some succumbed to other comorbidities. Almost every industry had to face losses and Bollywood is no different. Except for the financial losses, the film industry also lost many great souls in this period, especially to coronavirus. Unfortunately, another name has been added to the list, that of a master Art Director, Marutirao Kale, who recently passed away due to COVID-19 complications.

 

Marutirao Kale is one of the most famous Art Directors in Bollywood. He has worked across more than 100 films in his career. The Art Director has worked with many big names from the industry such as Manoj Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Ashok Kumar and Mithun Chakraborty to name a few. Marutirao Kale started working in the industry from a young age and worked as a carpenter in the iconic Mughal-e-Azam.

Later Marutiro got a job at the London Film Production and started working as an Assistant Art Director. After learning the ropes for a few years he then started working independently as an Art Director and provided his expertise in many films. Some of his iconic work includes films like, Pakeezah, Purab Aur Paschim, Disco Dancer, and Kabhi Kabhie to name a few.

Unfortunately, Bollywood and the world had lost this great gem to COVID-19. Confirming the news his family stated that Marutiro had contacted COVID-19 in the month of May and was admitted to the hospital as well. However, he recently lost his battle to the disease and is no more.
