The previous two years have seen a blurring of lines between regional entertainment industries, and 2022 will soon follow, with regional performers rising to prominence in Bollywood. Many South Indian actors are all ready to set foot in Bollywood and impress the audience. Here are the top five celebrities that are predicted to break new ground with big-budget films.
Prabhas
This year, Prabhas’ fans are in for a real treat. After 2019’s Saaho, the Baahubali actor will return to the big screen. Various projects are in the works, each of which promises to reveal different aspects of his personality. If there’s a romantic musical in Radhe Shyam, there’s also an action-packed Salaar and a mythological Adipurush, all of which will not only enhance but also broaden his influence in Bollywood.
Naga Chaitanya
While South hero Nagarjuna Akkineni will return to Bollywood after 17 years with the fantasy Brahmastra, his son Naga Chaitanya will embark on a new chapter in his career with the Hindi film Laal Singh Chaddha. He was photographed in uniform on the sets and is expected to appear in the film as an Army officer.
Rashmika Mandanna
After a successful Pushpa: The Rise in 2021, she is set to make her Bollywood debut with Goodbye and Mission Majnu, which will further establish her pan-India status.
Vijay Deverakonda
Vijay Deverakonda, well known for his role in the Telugu film Arjun Reddy (2017), is ready to make his Bollywood debut with the pan-India feature Liger. With Deverakonda, Mike Tyson, and Ananya Panday, it’s supposed to be a combination of various components. The big-budget picture will be released in many languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada, to ensure that it is well-represented in each region.
With SS Rajamouli’s ambitious RRR this year, South star Jr NTR will extend his star power even further. The movie was meant to be out on January 7, but it was postponed due to a rise of Covid infections throughout the country. That hasn’t dulled the excitement surrounding south talents teaming with Bollywood superstars like Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt.
