PVR changes name to PVRRR to mark unique collaboration with SS Rajamouli

Touted as one of the biggest collaborations in the history of world cinema, PVR Cinemas on October 29 announced its decision to rebrand itself as ‘PVRRR’ for the next few months.

So what if the immediate thought that comes to one’s mind post this name change is – What is in a name? A lot, if the exhibitor chain is PVR and the film-maker is SS Rajamouli and the film that he is offering to the discerning fans of Jr NTR is Roudram Ranam Rudhiram aka RRR.

It is this above unique combination that has seen PVR Cinemas, a film entertainment company in India rebrand itself as ‘PVRRR’ for this much-awaited SS Rajamouli blockbuster.

The company in a tweet stated that for the first time, a brand changed its name for a film. According to Ajay Bijli, chairman and managing director, PVR Ltd, the company’s 850+ screens and 170 properties in more than 70 cities across India will be referred to as PVRRR for the next few months.

Ajay Bijili, who released the rebranded logo with SS Rajamouli said the special ‘PVRRR promo’, will be played in all PVR multiplex chains across the country from the date of launch itself.

The 25-second video that unveiled the new branding logo pays tribute to the entertainment conglomerate as well as the creative genius of SS Rajamouli. Even the official Twitter handle of the RRR movie shared a seven-second video of this historic move in the entertainment industry.

RRR, which is scheduled for a grand release on January 7, 2022, is a fictional tale of Indian revolutionaries –  Komaram Bheem and Alluri Seetharamaraju in the 1920s. Besides Jr NTR, the film also has some of the big names of both Tollywood, Bollywood and Hollywood in Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt and Olivia Morris. The makers of the film in the interim have also built up the tempo for RRR by promising to put out the first teaser – a 45-second video on November 1 at 11am.
