One of Pollywood’s prominent, talented actresses, the singer Mandy Takhar completes a decade in the film industry, and still, she looks as fresh as a debutante. The Band Vaaje actress made her debut in Pollywood with Babbu Maan’s Ekam- Son Of Soil on 23 April 2010. In her first movie, Mandy played the role of Navneet and her performance quickly touched the audience, making her one of the promising emerging talents of Pollywood.

On completing a decade in the industry, Mandy shared her love and message on social media, thanking her co-stars and audience who supported her throughout her journey. She even thanked those who didn’t love her, as their criticism was ultimately helpful for her.
Many artistes from Pollywood also congratulated Mandy for achieving this milestone. Sargun Mehta said, “Congratulations mandy.. many more years to come”. Mandy’s best friend and Tu Mera 22 Main Tera 22 co-star Wamiqa Gabbi shared an interesting incident and congratulated her for completing a decade, “Wow!!! Mandy, I remember when Mirza came and everyone was in awe of you including me ♥️ You are sooooo beautiful inside out. I know you are a hard worker with a ‘learning’ soul and I love that about you. God bless you Mandaaaa and Congratulations. Love you.”
In these 10 years, Mandy has given us some superb performances in romantic dramas like Ekam, Mirza- The Untold Story, Ardas, Rab Da Radio and Saak. Mandy’s even proved her comic timing and graceful presence in films like Sardarji, Tu Mera 22 Main Tera 22, and Band Vaaje.
Mandy was born and brought up in Wolverhampton, UK, and in 2009 she left the UK to pursue her dream of becoming an artiste in the Indian film industry. Mandy considers herself lucky and blessed as her parents were supportive enough to let her live her dream. Apart from Punjabi, Mandy has also done Tamil, Telegu and Hindi cinema. Usually, we have singers who become actors, but Mandy took the reverse route. She made her debut as a singer with Dr Zeus in Lado Rani (2018). Mandy has won accolades for her work, including Best Actress for playing Sahiba in Mirza-The Untold Story and Best Supporting Actor for Diljit Dosanjh’s Sardarji.
In a decade, Mandy has touched upon all genres and she is going head-to-head with other actors in terms of her work. So, just like Sargun said, ‘many more to come’, we too hope that there many more achievements ahead of her.
