Remembering SP Balasubrahmanyam, The Legendary music genius

SPB, in addition to singing and music, acted in a number of films and made an unforgettable impression on the public. Many stars took to social media to pay homage to the legendary SP Balasubrahmanyam. He was referred to as ‘immortal’ and that he will be ‘remembered forever’.

For more than half a century, SP Balasubrahmanyam’s voice dominated the listeners’ hearts and minds not only in India but all across the world. This legendary global icon sang in multiple languages with the perfect pronunciation. He became the voice of more than 40,000 songs in almost 16 languages which include Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.

 

The supremely talented singer, actor, and music composer, SP Balasubrahmanyam, passed away a year ago on this day (September 25, 2020). He sure left his physical form but his velvety voice packed with all the emotions in his songs will stay with us forever. For singing the most songs, he held the Guinness World Record which is unparalleled to date. Not only that, but he also held the record for performing 21 songs in a single day.  

SPB, in addition to singing and music, acted in a number of films and made an unforgettable impression on the public. On December 15, 1996, he debuted in playback singing with Sri Sri Sri Maryada Ramanna. S P Kodandapani was SPB’s mentor. The Government of India has awarded this famous artist many honors, including the Padma Shree and Padma Bhushan.

 

Many stars took to social media to pay homage to the legendary SP Balasubrahmanyam. He was referred to as ‘immortal’ and that he will be ‘remembered forever’. Malayalam superstar Mohanlal shared a video of the singer singing a Malayalam song.

 

Kamal Haasan also took to Twitter to share throwback pictures of him with SP Balasubrahmanyam, as an ode to the legend.  

We can never forget SP Balasubrahmanyam’s dreamy voice and melodious songs. On his first death anniversary, here are some of his evergreen songs: Sathiya Tune Kya Kiya, Yeh Haseen Vadiyan Yeh Khula Aasman, Maria O Maria, Hum Apke Hain Koun, Chennai Express title track, and many more.

With the demise of this remarkable talent last year, the Indian industry surely suffered a tremendous loss. He took his last breath in a private hospital in Chennai where he was admitted. Lung failure was the cause of his death, after being infected with the novel Coronavirus.
