The 71st Republic Day is upon us. Many know Republic Day to be the day to honour the Constitution of India, which replaced the Government of India Act as the governing document. Every year, Republic Day is celebrated with a parade starting out from Red Fort. The President of India presides over the event and a special part of the event are the bravery awards handed out a very small select number of people who have reached there because of acts of immense bravery and selflessness in the face of danger. These people are the true heroes of our country.

Speaking of which, there are some Kollywood heroes, who have been quite the ideal heroes, when it comes to such films. They have played vigilantes, cops, agents and more in their films. Needless to say, they have done a good job! In fact, when you think of patriotic movies, these actors’ faces will definitely cross your mind. As India celebrates the 70th year of Republic Day, here are some actors who we think, have played their parts to perfection, to be known as our favourite patriotic heroes.

Arjun is literally the face of patriotic films in Tamil. The actor has acted in a plethora of such films, where he plays an agent working for the country. Can anyone ever forget his performance in Mudalavan or Gentlemen or even Jai Hind?

Ulaganayakan Kamal Haasan gave us hit vigilante films, that we simply cannot do without anymore. The actor has contributed to the industry in various forms such as as an actor, a filmmaker, producer and much more. But he also kicked off the whole movement of vigilante films with his movie, Indian.

Ajith has played a cop several times in his films. With every film, he has met and exceeded our expectations of how perfectly he plays the character. His films Valmai, Vivegam, Yennai Arndhaal are some examples of the same.

Every time Vijay and A.R. Murugadoss teamed up, they gave fans and the audience a patriotic film. From Sarkar to Thuppakki, the actor has played the role of a cop and a nation’s servant so well, that we cannot imagine the list without his mention.

The mere mention of the Singam franchise should answer all your doubts about why we have chosen Suriya for this list. He is also coming up with Soorarai Pottru, a film based on the events, that occurred during the life of Air Deccan founder GR Gopinath.
