Richa Chadha Birthday Special: 6 Times When The Lahore Confidential Actor Raised Her Voice On Different Societal Issues

Bollywood actor Richa Chadha celebrates her birthday today. Richa is all set to star in ZEE5’s next original series, Lahore Confidential. She has often made headlines for being strongly opinionated and for raising her voice on various societal issues. On being in an interfaith relationship

Richa’s in a happy relationship with Ali Fazal and the duo is planning to tie the knot very soon. Recently when an advertisement was criticised for being ‘interfaith’, Richa had her two cents to share. While talking to a daily, she mentioned how she feels sorry for those loveless people who have a problem with someone else’s marital choices.

Richa participated in Save The Elephants campaign

Back in 2018, the 33-year-old had joined hands with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals’ (PETA) for Save The Elephants campaign. She had written to Odisha’s Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik, drawing his attention towards the rising number of elephant deaths in Odisha, especially caused by speeding trains. In a brief letter, she suggested that the authorities need to inform the train drivers about elephant crossings and implement stricter measures.

Richa spoke on Delhi doctors not getting their salaries

Earlier in July this year, Chadha took to her social media handle and questioned why Delhi doctors weren’t getting their salaries. Her tweet came after a letter written by the Resident Doctors Association of Kasturba Hospital went viral on the internet. The letter, which went viral on the internet, stated that the doctors haven’t received their salaries for the last three months.

Richa’s take on Nepotism

Soon after the death of talented actor Sushant Singh Rajput, the Nepotism debate took the internet by storm. Netizens were targeting celebrities, especially those who were “outsiders”, to speak up on SSR’s death and nepotism culture in Bollywood. But, it seems like the constant troll got on Richa’s nerves as she broke her silence via a blog. While commenting on it, Chadha wrote, “being said that the industry is divided between outsiders and insiders. I believe that the Hindi film industry and the entire eco-system are only divided between kind and merciless people”.

Richa shuts up a troll 

As mentioned above, SSR’s death started the nepotism debate, days before writing a detailed blog, Richa had slammed troll who asked her why she’s silent on Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. She gave a befitting reply and wrote, “exactly how are we ‘keeping quiet’? How dare you suggest that? You know that the police is investigating the matter and everyone is cooperating by providing statements and clues. Trolls like you ignore the role of mental health in this scenario, going after his real friends, harassing them…for what? And you call yourself a doctor ? What if someone kills themselves because of trolls like you ? Should you be booked for abetment to suicide? F**k off please for insinuating that anyone at all is keeping quiet. You’re a disgrace to his memory”.

Richa addresses the issue of sexual violence

Back in 2019, after the release of her film Love Sonia, Richa addressed the issue of sexual violence via a video post on his Instagram handle. The caption of her post read, ”Let’s not turn a blind eye to the horrid atrocities that are happening around the world. The most important thing we can do to tackle this grave concern is to raise awareness. Let’s come together to honor survivors of sexual violence and to pay tribute to all those who have courageously devoted their lives and lost their lives in standing up for the eradication of these crimes.”
