Watch the trailer:
Ridicoolass starts with a shot at a film set, where the viewers get glimpses of how the shooting of films takes place. Mohan, an enthusiast yet amateur to the field of acting, often channelises his inner artist. During one such shot, he meets Bhaduri, another supporting actor, who believes that the “extra actors” are not meant for the camera. In the second half of the film, it is described how Mohan and Bhaduri, two people with a different ideology, have their ‘Ridicoolass’ memorable moment.
What works?
The writing! There as a few dialogues that will give you a reality check; not only in terms of being in the profession of acting but also with life. Most of the scenes of the film have been shot outdoor to give a detailed vision into the life of a struggling actor at a movie set. Although the film does not focus on the love story aspect, the chemistry between amateur Mohan and experienced Bhaduri keeps the viewers hooked to the screen. The optimistic approach of Mohan and Bhaduri’s trait of keeping reality in the mind makes a perfect blend. Meanwhile, coming to the background music, the makers have used a joyful tune for a few scenes whereas in the rest of the scenes there is no specific BGM or song playing.
Final words: The short film is worth a watch for a few reasons. 1. It’s only 20 minutes. 2. The story does not focus on the struggles of the extra actors but rather deals with how it affects their choices in life. 3. The easy subject and the storyline makes it easy to understand the context without making it too confusing for the viewer.
