Sa Re Ga Ma Pa – Next Singing Icon: Kalpana joins the judges for the quarter-finals

Sa Re Ga Ma Pa- Next Singing Icon just entered the second round of quarter-finals and unlike the last round, there will be eliminations in this round which makes this round a little more tense than the last round. To give the contestants valuable feedback after their performances, Singer Kalpana joined the judges‘ panel for this round.

We couldn’t have thought of anyone better to offer their expert advice since the singer is a prodigy herself. The singer has been singing since she was five years old and has over 1500 songs to her name while also having performed for over 3000 stage shows. As soon as she got on stage, she first made all the singers comfortable by pulling the contestants’ legs so they wouldn’t feel nervous before her. After every performance, she took the time out to tell the participants where they could actually better themselves.

She first sang for a family with revered singers like P. Susheela, Mano, M. M. Srilekha and her younger sister Prasanna and the song was composed by music director Saluri Vasurao. She started her career as a playback singer in 1999 by rendering her voice for the song Mangalagouriki under music director Mani Sharma. She has also worked with many legendary composers and singers like M. S. Viswanathan, Ilaiyaraaja, A. R. Rahman, K. V. Mahadevan, S. P. Balasubrahmanyam and K. S. Chithra.
