Sanjay Leela Bhansali Will Reportedly Start Working On His Passion Project, ‘Heera Mandi’ Next

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is one of the most popular filmmakers in India. He is known for his larger than life films which are made with a strong star cast. Fans of his films had been eagerly waiting for his next film and it seems like they finally have an answer. According to reports, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is all set to start working on his new project, Heera Mandi. According to reports, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heera Mandi is all set to take off after a long wait of 13 years. The movie is considered as Bhansali’s passion project. The movie had been in the talks for quite some time now. The production and filming of Hera Mandi is all set to start in the first few months of next year. It is also said that Sanjay Leela Bhansali was planning this film’s release with Prerna Singh, CEO of his production house. Interestingly, the movie is expected to be made on a grand scale and will be a costume drama. The movie will consist of all the ingredients of a typical Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie.

The reports also mentioned that the movie is eyeing for an OTT release. Even though he himself will not be helming this project, the movie will be directed by Vibhu Puri. He has written dialogues for Bhansali’s film Guzaarish which featured Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead roles. The film is reportedly based on the prostitution of Pakistan’s red-light area Heera Mandi. Sanjay Leela Bhansali is already working on Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi which is also based on prostitution. However, the essence of both movies is expected to be very different.

As far as the Heera Mandi’s cast is concerned, the movie will reportedly see the popular couple Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone back on screen. Sanjay Leela Bhansali has given three huge hits with Deepika and Ranveer previously. It is also said that Priyanka Chopra and Rani Mukerji were considered as the first choice for this project.
