All you need to know about Rangbaaz actor Saqib Saleem.

Saqib Saleem Qureshi is an Indian film actor and a model, who began his career with the romantic comedy Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge. Despite being the brother of famous actress Huma Qureshi, Saqib has created his own identity in the Bollywood film industry. He has experimented with different roles and has done justice to them.

Early Life And Family:

Salim was born on 18 April 1988, in Delhi. His father Saleem owns a chain of 10 restaurants called Saleem’s all around Delhi. His mother, Ameena Qureshi, is a housewife. He has one sister Huma Qureshi who is also an actor, and two brothers, Naeem Qureshi and Haseen Qureshi.

Instead of doing a Masters in Business Administration or assisting his father in their restaurant business, Saqib moved to Mumbai to become a model.

Saqib has a keen interest in playing Cricket. He used to play for Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir.

Career:

He initially acted for advertisement brands like Pepsi, Lays, Tata Docomo, Bar One, KFC, Airtel and Sprite among many others. He then ultimately forayed into the movie industry. With the help of a close friend, fashion designer Varun Bahl, he chanced upon an audition for Yash Raj Films and bagged the leading role in the Y-Films romantic comedy Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge in 2011.

The two-year contract with Y-films also included Mere Dad Ki Maruti starring Ram Kapoor and Rhea Chakraborty.

Subsequently, he took up the challenging role of a closeted gay in the 2013 anthology Bombay Talkies directed by Karan Johar. Following this experimental film, he appeared in Hawaa Hawaai in 2014, where he played the role of a skating coach.

Saleem fulfils his dream of playing cricket in the 2016 action thriller Dishoom where he was roped in for the role of a cricketer. He acted opposite Taapsee Pannu in Dil Juunglee in 2017. In a Hollywood remake of the film Oculus, Saleem along with his sister Huma Qureshi starred in Dobaraa: See Your Evil.

His highest-grossing release came with the action thriller Race 3 in 2018, with a star-studded cast of Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor and Daisy Shah. The actor also briefly features in 83.

Saqib has also ventured into different web series. In 2018, he played the role of Shiv Prakash Shukla in Rangbaaz on ZEE5. He starred as Vishal on the Hotstar series Pyaar Actually – Real is Rare in 2019. He also features in Crackdown that was scheduled to release on September 23, 2020, on Voot.

A ZEE5 original Comedy Couple starring Saqib and Shweta Basu Prasad will premiere this year on October 21.

In addition to acting in films, Saleem is an active philanthropist. Owing to his love for Cricket, he is a member of the “Mumbai Heroes” at the Celebrity Cricket League, a non-professional men’s cricket league in India.
