John Abraham is back to spell his magic on the silver screen with Divya Khosla Kumar in Milap Zaveri’s Satyameva Jayate 2. The film which is a sequel to Satyameva Jayate sees John in the triple role of a father and twin brothers. In the film, John’s one of the characters Satya is a Home Minister who wants to clean the nation with his Anti-corruption bill. Ditching the typical Friday release, the makers opted for a Thursday release, indirectly averting the clash with Aayush Sharma and Salman Khan starrer Antim: The Final Truth. While the film has been receiving rave reviews, we got in touch with Film Business Expert Girish Johar to know about the possible collection, that SMJ2 can make
He told us, “This is a critical weekend at the box office. Satyameva Jayate is a big film and Antim: The Final Truth too has Salman Khan in an extended special role and has a huge following. So speaking about John Abraham, he’s an established action star and he’s known for doing these commercial mass films. Everyone also knows that John has different content for his fans in his movies. These commercial entertainers and action films always get mixed to above-average good reviews. But at the end of the day, SMJ 2 is that kind of content where fans want to whistle and clap.” He further added, “Milap has given an ode to the 80s cinema and this film is looking quite good.”
When asked about what predictions can be taken about its Day 1 box-office collection, Johar said, “Well, makers have opted for a Thursday release- don’t know why probably helping the word of mouth to built over the weekend. Speaking about the numbers, it’s difficult to say because it’s a working day so it might start on 10%. But tomorrow, it should be around Rs 6 crore plus.” He went on to add, “But the problem is that if the film is bad, it will go down. Had it been a normal release, then we would have predicted, accordingly.”
This afternoon, we brought you Satyamava Jayate 2’s review and said that fans can expect a triple dose of action, thriller, entertainment and John Abraham. We rated the film with 3 stars.
