Scarlett Johansson’s various tattoos and what do they mean
HollywoodThere is a hidden meaning behind the many tattoos Scarlett Johansson possesses
Scarlett Johansson has never been afraid to flaunt her tattoos. She has nine tattoos in total, ranging from barely-there micro ink to a massive piece on her back that made news when she first showed it off. From a little A to the tattoo that connects (nearly) all of the Avengers, here’s a full breakdown of Johansson’s collection.
Unfortunately for those interested in learning more about each of her tattoos, Johansson has remained silent on the meanings of the majority of them. However, a handful is simple to decipher, especially if her Avengers co-stars blab.
Interlocked Circles With the Letter A
This tattoo, on the inside of Johansson’s right ankle, is one of her more discreet ones, and it doesn’t draw as much notice as some of her others. However, Johansson hasn’t said what the A could mean.
Lamb With Floral Design
Johansson’s backpiece made its premiere at the Met Gala in 2018, but viewers didn’t get a better look at it until a year later. When she donned a cut-out crystal dress to the premiere of Avengers: Endgame in April 2019, it was almost perfectly framed. She hasn’t said what this one means either, although her daughter’s name is Rose Dorothy Dauriac.
Rose
Johansson’s ribcage has a smaller floral pattern. Fans have gotten a close peep at this one thanks to her go-to red carpet cutouts.
Flying Owl
Scarlett Johansson has one tattoo on the other side of the ribs as well. The tattoo on the other side of her ribs is a flying owl.
Horseshoe
Johansson enlisted French tattooist and graffiti artist Fuzi Uvtpk for an upside-down horseshoe and the words “Lucky You” on her ribcage. Because it’s so high up on her ribcage, it doesn’t garner nearly as much attention as some of her other more visible tattoos.
Avengers Logo
Lord is also accountable for the one tattoo that practically every member of the Avengers has. According to Revolver Magazine, he customised each actor’s piece. He explained, “There’s a symbol for everyone in the movie hidden in there.” “Their initials are all tucked away in there as well.”
Sunrise
The sunrise on Johansson’s left forearm, unlike her other tattoos, is a vivid, bright piece – and she’s talked about it. According to Zimbio, she added, “I’ve had a dawn tattoo on my arm for a time.” “When I look at it, it makes me joyful, but the reason I got it done is very personal.” Some things must be kept confidential.
Bracelet
The tiny bracelet tattoo on Johansson’s right wrist appears to be a simple chain, but it’s more than that. The tattoo says “I [love] NY,” and the charm is a Thor’s Hammer (not Black Widow’s… zap sticks?). Johansson was born in New York City, so it’s only fitting that she has a beautiful nod to her hometown.
