Sembaruthi: Shabana Shajahan Aka Parvathy To Now Get A New Look On The Show?

Shabana Shajahan, who is currently essaying the role of Parvathy in the much-celebrated show Sembaruthi alongside Karthik Raj, is one of the prettiest small-screen actresses we know. This Indian beauty has been impressing the ardent viewers of the show not just with her acting prowess and sizzling chemistry with Karthik, but also with her beauty and style, among others, over the years.

The interesting aspect to her style on the show is how the creators have subtly altered her look at periodic intervals in keeping with the change in narratives. When Parvathy first started out at the Adikadavur mansion, she was pretty much a hick-from-the-sticks, fresh from the village and her appearance suggests the same. Today, she is a far more sophisticated woman, bold and confident and her outfits have been altered to reflect that. Check out the transition of Parvathy over her three years on the show.

Village Girl

Parvathi’s initial look on the show included a plain pavadai dawani (half-saree) with puff-sleeved blouses, with her hair oiled well and braided and malligai poovu pinned to the braid. Small studs on her ears and a basic red long bindi. She looked every inch a village girl, new to the city, her face brimming with innocence and naivete. Although good natured, she had no concept of decorum or the understanding about when to keep her mouth shut, due to which she fell into disgrace with Akhila from the very beginning.

New Job In the City

When she got a job as a cook in the Adikadavur household, she ditched the simple village look. However, she retained the pavadai dawani and the puff-sleeved blouses, because a cook’s pay cannot lead to a makeover or a wardrobe overhaul. But she learned to groom herself better, accessorise and look more presentable, also in keeping with her subsequent post as brand ambassador for Adi’s company. Her hair was then loosely tied and she wore jimikkis on her ears.

Married In Secret

Since this was a secret marriage, done without Akhilandeshwari’s approval, Parvathy continued to hold her post as a cook in the household and could not openly dress up in keeping with the status of a marumagal of Adikadavur clan. So the changes in her appearance are subtle. However, she finally graduated from half-saree to full-saree. She still wore sober-coloured sarees, but they now had slim zari borders and minimal design work. Her blouses got more neater lines. Post-marriage, Parvathi’s braided look returns in keeping with her married status, only this was a more sophisticated french braid. The general appearance was neat, sober and low key.

Goodwill Ambassador And A Woman Of The World

Adi had decided that Parvathy’s image must undergo a change so that his mother stops seeing her as a servant. That way when the moment comes when Adi announces his marriage to her, Akhila may be more accepting of her. He urges her to stand for elections for the post of good will ambassador. And that gives rise to her current look and her best one so far. Here, she is back to wearing her hair loose again and long silver jimikkis on her ears. Her sarees are now bright in colours with a glossy silk-like look and her bindis are now smaller and match her outfits exactly. She also seems to be brimming with confidence as opposed to her earlier look. Much as we love this look though, we feel that Parvathy might undergo another makeover soon, as she is no longer a house help. Now that Akhilandeshwari is aware of her marriage and has allowed Parvathy to now live in the house with Adi, we think she will soon don the avatar of a daughter-in-law of Adikadavur family.

Parvathy, Daughter-in-law Of The House

Although we are not sure what the makers have in store for us, we would like to speculate that Parvathy may ditch the silver jewellery, to begin with, and start wearing gold ornaments. Like Akhilandeshwari, now Parvathy too may start draping traditional silk sarees and team up her look with a pair of designer earrings and gold choker necklaces. Aishwarya, her younger sister-in-law and Arun’s wife was a modern girl before marriage and now, she wears her hair in a bun, but her sarees are modern in their appearance, she wears sleeveless blouses and her jewellery is more often silver than gold.  Parvathy, who is a traditional girl, may not be seen wearing too many sleeveless blouses but might opt for full-sleeved ones. She may also tie her hair in a bun to make it go with her new, rich look. This is what we assume to be Parvathy’s new look, but you never know, the makers may surprise us, as always they do!

Talking about the current plot, Akhilandeshwari has found out about Adi (Karthik) and Parvathy’s (Shabana) secret wedding and is very upset, that the two people she believed in the most, broke her trust. Though she has not thrown them out of the house, she hasn’t accepted their marriage either. On the other hand, Adi, who is guilty of his actions, had decided that he will leave the house voluntarily. However, Parvathy talked him out of it and told him that they must try and win Akhila’s heart instead of escaping the situation. Parvathy has even challenged Vanaja, saying that she will never leave her mother-in-law in this house alone and will always protect her come what may. She also tells Vanaja that she knows of her evil intentions and will be one step ahead of her, all the time.
