The much loved star Shabir Ahluwalia is an Indian television and film actor. He has also been a host on many popular TV shows. He is widely recognised for his current role as Abhishek Prem Mehra in Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya.
Early Life And Family
Shabir Sebastian Ahluwalia was born on 10th August 1979 in Mumbai, Maharashtra to a Sikh father and Catholic mother. He has two siblings, Shefali and Sameer.
Shabir was educated at St. Xavier’s High School, Vile Parle, Mumbai and the University Of Maryland, College Park. Shabir married his long time girlfriend Kanchi Kaul in 2011. The couple was blessed with two boys shortly after.
Career
Shabir made his debut with the show Hip Hip Hurray but gained wide recognition from the popular television show, Kahin Toh Hoga. Besides that, he has been a part of many other shows like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi (2002), Kya Hadsaa Kya Haqeeqat (2003), Kahin Toh Milenge (2002), Kkavyanjali (2005), Kasamh Se (2006), Kasautii Zindagii Kii (2007), Kayamath (2008) and Laagi Tumse Lagan. He is currently playing the role of Abhishek Prem Mehra in the very popular show Kumkum Bhagya alongside Sriti Jha.
Shabir made his Bollywood debut with the film Shootout At Lokhandwala starring Sanjay Dutt, Sunil Shetty, Abhishek Bachchan, and Vivek Oberoi. He appeared in Mission Istanbul in 2008 alongside Vivek Oberoi and Zayed Khan.
Shabir also bagged the lead role for a web series on ZEE5 called Fixerr in 2019, with Mahie Gill, Karishma Sharma, and Varun Badola in supporting roles.
Shabir was a part of Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 3 and ended up winning the season. He owns a production house called Flying Turtles.
Awards
Shabir has been absolutely adored by audiences and has made a special place in their hearts. He has also received many awards for the same.
In 2004, he got the Indian Telly Award for Best Actor In A Negative Role for the show Kahin Toh Hoga.
In 2005, The Indian Television Academy Award for Best Anchor Music/Films for Nach Baliye.
In 2007, he was nominated for the Indian Telly Award for Best Actor In A Supporting Role.
In 2008, he won the Gold Award for Best Actor In Leading Role and also won the title of Most Stylish Actor.
In 2014, he was nominated Indian Television Academy Award for Best Popular Actor.
In 2015, he bagged a Gold Award for Best Actor In Lead Role and an Indian Television Academy Award for Best Actor (Popular).
In 2018 and 2019 he was nominated for Best Onscreen Jodi along with his Kumkum Bhagya co-actor Sriti Jha.
