Shilpa Shetty’s Film Nikamma Gets Postponed Amid Ongoing Raj Kundra Controversy

Actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra used to be one of the most popular actresses in Bollywood. Even though she stepped away from films for a while, she made a comeback with Hungama 2 after a hiatus of fourteen years. The film however performed poorly and reportedly, the reason for that is the ongoing Raj Kundra controversy. As per reports, the controversy has not only affected Hungama 2 but Shilpa’s other projects such as Nikamma as well.

Amid the Raj Kundra controversy, Shilpa’s upcoming film Nikamma has been postponed. Makers were waiting for Hungama 2 to pick up pace, however, it failed to get a lot of viewership. In light of Hungama 2’s poor performance, makers of Nikamma have decided to postpone the release of Nikamma. They have not finalized any date yet, but they have said that they will make a decision about the film’s release after Raj Kundra’s case is ‘normalized’

Nikamma is an action romantic comedy that also features Abhimanyu Dassani and Shirley Setia in key roles. The film is directed by Sabbir Khan and produced under the banner of Shabbir Khan Films & Sony Pictures. Hungama 2, on the other hand, premiered on 23 July 2021 featuring Meezaan Jaaferi, Paresh Rawal,  Pranitha Subhash, alongside Shilpa Shetty.

Apart from films, Shilpa’s other projects such as Super Dancer 4 have been affected as well. She is a judge on that show alongside Geeta Kapur and Anurag Basu. However, she has been missing from the show ever since Raj Kundra got arrested for his alleged involvement in a porn racket.

As per a daily, actress Raveena Tandon was reportedly approached to replace Shilpa but she turned down the offer citing that the seat belongs to Shilpa. Makers or Shilpa are yet to confirm whether she will be returning for the remainder of the season or not.
