Actor Shruti Haasan says it is strange that in this age, she has to justify her marriage choices to others. Shruti says her views on marriage needs to be known only by the person she is dating.

Actor Shruti Haasan is fiercely protective of her individuality.

Shruti Haasan said she finds it strange that even in 2021, she finds herself being asked about her marriage or why she does not want to enter into wedlock. Not wanting to be chained down to stereotypes, especially about women, the 35-year-old who has carved a niche for herself in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu films opened up on the question of marriage in a recent interview to an online portal.

Finding herself on the other side of the 30s, the actor who is currently busy with pan-India flick Salaar, said society continues to judge women by the choices they make. An accomplished singer, Shruti Haasan who took a sabbatical from films to focus on her music, told the interviewer that she needs to explain her views on marriage to the person she is dating. The Ramaiya Vastavaiya girl was perplexed on the need for her to explain this (feeling) to the rest of the society.

The actor said the industry and society expectations too was different for women if they were single and were into active movie making at her age. The general norm for women past a certain age is for them to be married be settled at with kids and spouse.

Admitting that she is loving every minute of her plus 35 life, the actor said she would not like to have her life any other way. Shruti Haasan also thrashed notions of the industry that expects women to be dressed in certain types of dress and of certain ‘feminine colour. The actor who was seen in leather pants and duct tapes wrapped around her in her first song ‘Aazma Luck’ said her dress preference is only for the camera, and off it, her colour of choice is black.
