Shyama And Amrapali: How These Characters Differ Despite Looking Alike In The Latest Zee Bangla TV Serial Krishnakoli

In the latest Zee Bangla TV serial Krishnakoli, the protagonist Shyama (played by Tiyasha Roy) is a true heroine. She is a singer by profession and has a dusky complexion which in our society is unnecessarily stigmatised. However, she overcomes enormous challenge to make it in her career, and many compare her natural colour to Lord Krishna’s.

Recently, Shyama met with a mysterious fate and vanished from the action. Her husband Nikhil (played by Neel Bhattacharya) is diligently tracking down those behind her disappearance with the help of Amrapali aka Maam (also played by Tiyasha Roy), who bears a striking resemblance to Shyama! However, even though Shyama and Maam look alike, they are two different individuals. Let’s look at the ways that these characters differ from each other.

While Shyama possesses a distinctly dusky complexion, Maam is fair in colour. When Maam pretends to be Shyama to help crack the mystery, she has to put on make-up in a darker shade so as to resemble her completely! Maam is also a bit younger than Shyama.

Although Maam and Shyama share the same profession (they are both singers), Shyama specialises in singing devotional kirtans for Lord Krishna, and Maam is more inclined towards a Western-style of music in the rock genre.

Additionally, Shyama is from a rural village and follows a simple and rustic lifestyle, Maam has been brought up abroad, and has a more contemporary outlook because of it. However, even though Maam has never met Shyama, she has developed a deep respect for her by hearing about her from the Choudhury family.

Lastly, Shyama’s favourite food is roasted aubergine (begun pora) made at home by Nikhil’s mother, while Maam is allergic to the vegetable and tends to develop an itchy rash if she eats it!
