Though Gangtok is in Sikkim, Suman lists the Sikkimese capital as one of his favourite holiday destinations. Gangtok is known for beautiful valleys and picturesque mountains. Catch a glimpse of the alluring view of the Kanchenjunga. Take a cable car while you witness the entire city. Don’t miss it.

Lachung, a magical place in Sikkim, is surrounded by snow-capped mountains. It is also known for the apple orchards. Get a chance to enjoy the sparkling streams that flow through this town.

Located close to the hill station of Darjeeling, Kurseong is also called the ‘Land of the white orchids’. It is one of the most visited tourist spots. Walk up Dow Hill or have delicious momos, this peaceful town is great for a relaxed vacation.

Surrounded by the two rivers – Mahananda and Teesta — in the west and east, respectively, Baikunthapur forest is home to various flora and fauna. Filled with sal trees, this forest is considered as one of the best picnic spots in West Bengal. Head out with your family and enjoy a picnic right away!

Located in the foothills of Himalayas, Gorumara Forest is known for its population of the one-horned Indian rhinos. The wildlife reserve is safeguarded by the government and is classified as a protected area.

The man-made wonder is one of the most visited bridges. Built over the Teesta river, the bridge has a unique and rugged touch. It is also called as Baghpool due to the two tiger statues present on either side of the bridge. Don’t miss this interesting site.

This small town located near Siliguri is one of the most visited picnic spots in the area. Filled with lush greenery, the area is devoid of any noise, hence making it the best choice for a weekend getaway. There is a unique place to visit in this town. Considered to be a natural treasure trove of beauty in North Bengal, the hill town of Mirik is a culmination of beautiful mountains and serene lake. With places like the Mirik Lake, orange orchards and quaint tea gardens, the town is a great weekend spot to spend with your loved ones.

In the quaint Dooars, located near the river Murti, Rocky islands are one of the most visited vacation spots in West Bengal.  Surrounded by forest and river, Rocky Islands are located in a diversely geographical place. Take a trip to the Neora Valley National Sanctuary which is located right nearby and check out the wide variety of animals present there.
