Singer Demi Lovato is not sure about having kids

Singer Demi Lovato who came out as non-binary earlier this year has no clear thoughts on having children.

The 29-year-old singer appearing on the “Today” show commented, “I just don’t know because I’m going with the flow, and if life presents itself with a child in the future, then it does and we’ll take it. We’ll see what happens.”

Responding to the question of the possibility of having children, Lovato said, “I don’t know. I used to really want that, and then, as I’m approaching my 30s without children, it’s pretty nice. I have maternal instincts, I love my animals, and I used to really think that one day I would love to be a parent.

“The way that I explain being nonbinary to people, or gender non conforming, is for me personally — I can’t speak to everyone in their experience — when I came to the realization that I am equally as masculine as I am feminine,” Lovato explained. “My masculine and feminine energy are equal, so much so that I may be wearing a dress and heels right now, but I don’t identify as just a woman or just a man, and I identify as both.”

Lovato is known for the “Dancing with the Devil” song and also the documentary by the same name. It is a very controversial docuseries that was released earlier this year. The film portrayed the personal and professional life of American actor and singer Demi Lovato over three years. It also included the much-talked-about drug-overdose chapter from Lovato’s life.

The overdose in 2018 almost took Lovato’s life. It also posed grave health complications to the singer subsequently.

The singer and activist identifies as nonbinary and pansexual and had changed their pronoun from she/her to they/them.  Lovato is involved in projects like the hit podcast 4D With Demi Lovato and the Peacock series Unidentified.

Lovato is also working towards raising awareness about the issues faced by the LGBTQ community.
