Sonakshi Sinha, Riteish Deshmukh And Saqib Saleem Team Up For A Horror-Comedy Titled ‘Kakuda’

Film genres horror and comedy might seem extreme opposites of one another. However, both serve as an effective way to release pent-up emotions. And thus, the blend of these two genres, horror-comedies has emerged as a new trend. And the new entrant in this niche genre is an upcoming project starring Sonakshi Sinha and Riteish Deshmukh in the lead. Backed by producer Ronnie Screwvala, the film has registered the title ‘Kakuda’.

This is the first time that actors Sonakshi Sinha and Riteish Deshmukh are collaborating on a film project. Also, joining the team is Saqib Saleem who will play Sonakshi’s romantic interest. Filmmaker Aditya Sarpotdar is on board to direct Kakuda. Earlier, Sarpotdar had worked with Riteish on his debut Marathi film ‘Mauli’. Reportedly, the horror-comedy will have a similar theme to that of previous Bollywood releases of this genre. However, the makers have promised a “refreshing and unique” story.

If reports are to be believed, Sonakshi will be seen playing the role of a ghost-hunter in the film. While more details about other characters are not revealed, the film will draw its inspiration from many real stories. As of now, the cast and crew have been locked and the makers are planning to go on floors next month.

Partially based on true stories, Kakuda will be shot in Rajasthan. Earlier, the film was scheduled for the shoot in September. However, due to the Covid situation, the makers had to postpone the plan. Now, the film will have a start-to-end schedule of 40 days in different regions of Rajasthan. Well, the news surrounding Kakuda has got the fans excited as they are eagerly waiting for more updates on the film’s story.

Apart from Kakuda, Riteish Deshmukh will also be a part of Akshay Kumar starter Bachchan Pandey. On the other hand, Sonakshi Sinha is gearing up for the release of Bhuj: The Pride Of India.
