Strawberry Shake’s Sumeet Raghavan Expresses Anger Over Mob Lynching Incident In Palghar

On April 16, three men reportedly believed to be Sadhus were attacked by a mob of angry locals near Gadchinchale village in Palghar, Maharashtra. These three men were lynched while they were travelling in a van to Silvassa. The mob reportedly pelted stones at their van and later beat them up with sticks until they were dead. This incident of mob lynching has sent shockwaves across the country and many have reacted by condemning the issue. Several celebrities expressed their anger regarding this incident on social media. The latest celeb to join them was Strawberry Shake‘s Sumeet Raghavan.

Sumeet posted a series of angry tweets on Twitter strongly condemning the violent incident that happened in Palghar. His tweet read, “I am numb, I wish I hadn’t seen these videos. I just can’t get the visuals off my mind of an old man been bludgeoned to death by a mob. Instead of shielding the old man, the cop was trying to get rid of him and that’s going to haunt me for years to come. Where are we heading?” The actor further expressed that he’s ashamed to see such an incident happening in Maharashtra which is said to be the land of saints and heroes. He considers this incident to be a black stain on the image of Maharashtra. “How can a mob be so bloodthirsty? How come nobody from the crowd intervened and stopped this mad rush of blood. I am sure someone could have..right? I really haven’t been able to come to terms with this. Let’s pause and think and ask ourselves, IS THIS RIGHT??”, read Sumeet’s next tweet in the thread.

The incident is said to have occurred after rumours about the three men posing as thieves spread in the area. The videos of the incident started doing rounds on social media three days after the incident took place which amplified the public distress. Meanwhile, more than 100 people have been arrested by the police in connection with this inhumane incident.
