1. Hip Hip Hurray

There is no denying that Zee TV has been a pioneer in the Indian television space. It was the first Hindi subscription channel in India, launched in 1992. During the 90s, Zee TV produced TV shows and daily soaps that catered to the changing times and audience. Not falling into the saas-bahu trap, several serials aired on the channel have gone on to become cult classic shows. On the occasion of Teacher’s Day 2019, we enlist such serials revolving around the high-school and college campus life that you’d fondly remember.

Hip Hip Hurray aired on Zee TV from 1998-2001. The show starred Nilanjana Sharma, Rushad Rana, Purab Kohli, Bhumika Chawla, Nauheed Cyrusi and Sharokh Barucha. The story revolves around the lives of 12th-grade students of the DeNobili High School and their adventures, their fears, and hopes, their relationships, and interactions. 2. REJCTX

REJCTX is ZEE5 Original streaming on the OTT platform by Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited. The web series features Sumeet Vyas, Kubbra Sait, Anisha Victor, Ahmed Masi Wali, and Ridhi Khakhar. This edgy, fast-paced thriller is a coming of age story about a group of youngsters who form a rap band to showcase their talent and express their angst.

3. Campus

Zee TV’s 1993 TV show Campus was one of the most-watched serials on Indian television. It was a college-based show starring the likes of Arif Zakaria, Mahesh Manjrekar, Ninad Kamat and Milind Gawali in the lead roles. Directed by Sanjeev Bhattacharya, the narratives covered themes like college life, politics, love, and followed the lives of a group of youngsters discovering their identities.

4. Banegi Apni Baat

Banegi Apni Baat is one amongst the many memorable Zee TV shows. With a fresh storyline, the serial rejuvenated the television scene in India. It aired on Zee TV from 1993 through 1997. Written by Pranay Singh and directed by Tony Singh & Sunil Prasad, the daily soap featured the Bollywood bigwigs of contemporary times including Irrfan Khan, R. Madhavan, Surekha Sikri, Sandhya Mridul and Rakhee Tandon amongst others. Alyy Khan, Aman Khanna, Firdaus Dadi, Ikhlaq Khan starred in pivotal roles too. Achint Kaur of Jamai 2.0 too debuted with Banegi Apni Baat, after she joined the show in 1994.

The story revolves around a group of college students and their transition into professional lives. The story captures both, their fun-filled campus days, as well as their professional lives where they make some important practical decisions.

5. Remix

It wouldn’t be wrong to say, there is no match for Remix till date. With saas-bahu serials galore, Remix was an impressionable offering brilliantly showcasing and tapping the teenage audience. This 2004 hit show traced the lives of four students at Maurya High who defined all things ‘cool’ or at least so they thought then.
