Telugu actor Rajasekhar’s father passes away on Diwali at the age of 94

The recent Diwali brought sad news for the Tamil–Telugu actor Dr Rajasekhar’s household as his father Mr. Varadarajan Gopal died on Thursday at the age of 94. Mr. Gopal had been ill for a few days due to age-related concerns and had been admitted to Hyderabad’s City Neuro Centre, a private hospital, for treatment, where he died on Thursday evening. He is survived by five children of which Dr. Rajasekhar is the second child. Varadarajan was a part of the Police force from the Tamil Nadu cadre and he was the former Deputy Commissioner of Police in Chennai.

Post his demise an official statement was given by the wife of Dr. Rajasekhar, Jeevitha Rajasekhar, in which she confirmed the passing away of her father-in-law at 6:30 PM on 4th of November. She further went on to give the details of the funeral proceedings that was to be held at Chennai for which his mortal remains were flown to the said city. She also added that everyone who wished to pay their last respects could do so after 4 PM on 5th November, at his residence in Anna Nagar, Chennai.

Rajasekhar is well-known in Tamil cinema for his roles in films such as Ithu Thaanda Police, Meesaikaaran, Pudhumai Penn, among many others. Despite the fact that Rajasekhar made his acting debut in Tamil cinema, it was in Telugu film industry that he gained popularity and delivered a string of blockbuster hits. Dr. Rajasekhar was last seen in the 2019 film Kalki starring Rahul Ramakrishna, Adah Sharma, Nandita Swetha, and Pujita Ponnada as other cast members. Rajasekhar plays the role of an IPS officer in this film that was directed by Prasanth Varma.

Talking about the upcoming projects of the actor, Rajasekhar will be seen in the upcoming investigative thriller drama titled ‘Sekhar’ wherein he is reported to be seen in a look that is different from that of his earlier films. The movie is expected to be released on Sankranthi next year.
