Our Bollywood heroes are no different as some of the big names have eloped and married their beloved partners in the past. These are people who stood against cultural or religious differences and decided to marry anyway disregarding family or societal rejections. From Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh to Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta, here are a few such couples.

Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh

Amrita Singh was the quintessential Punjabi Kudi of Bollywood and an upcoming Saif Ali Khan had fallen for her beauty. Despite the big age difference, the duo befriended each other. What started off as a fling landed the couple in a lot of controversies and troubles before they decided to tie the knot. However, things didn’t work out for the duo who had almost no similarities in lifestyles. The duo’s chemistry fell out of order and they eventually got divorced. Saif is today happily married to Kareena Kapoor whereas Amrita Singh is a single mom to 2 grown up children, Sara and Ibrahim.

Padmini Kolhapure and Pradeep Sharma

Padmini met Pradeep after signing for his film, Aisa Pyaar Kahan. The duo fell in love soon but kept the news as a secret for the longest time. Padmini’s parents who were concerned about Pradeep being from a different community, were against their relationship. However, Padmini eloped with her producer boyfriend and they tied the knot at a friend’s house. The duo is happily married and has a son.

Shakti Kapoor and Shivangi Kolhapure

Shakti Kapoor was one of the busiest actors in the 80s and 90s and he too had a beautiful love story. He fell in love with Padmini Kolhapure’s elder sister Shivangi Kolhapure and they secretly dated for around two years. As Shivangi’s parents were against their relationship, the duo decided to elope and get married. The famous lovebirds got married in a court in 1982.

Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta

Aamir Khan was only a rising actor when he eloped with his then next-door neighbour Reena Dutta. The actor proposed to his partner the day he turned 21. However, the couple faced big opposition from Reena’s family due to being from different religions. The duo who were in love eloped and tied the knot in 1986. After spending 16 years together, the duo decided to separate and Aamir married Kiran Rao.
