Jal Mahal

1/7

Anupam Roy, the famous Bengali singer who has given us such hits as Amake Amar Moto Thakte Dao and Ekta Mon, had taken a vacation in the beautiful state of Rajasthan. Now that he is tucked away at home like the rest of us and cannot step out, let alone travel, Anupam has been reliving his holiday through photographs taken on the trip, which he has shared with on on his social media page. We too, can admire the place from afar through them. Scroll down and enjoy!

This is a photo of Jal Mahal, which means ‘Water Palace’– a palace in the middle of the Man Sagar Lake in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. Renovated in the 18th century by Maharaja Jai Singh II, the palace and the lake around it cuts a most spectacular picture! Listen to the song Bezubaan from the movie Piku, sung and composed by Anupam.

View From Amer Fort

2/7

Also taken in Jaipur, this photo shows us the view from Amer Fort, also known as Amber Palace. A popular tourist attraction, it is known for its artistic architecture. Built in red sandstone and marble, the palace is laid out over four levels and looks out to Maota Lake, which we can see in the picture. The panoramic view from here will take your breath away, with its sheer scenic splendour full of mountains, lakes, and expansive blue skies.

Albert Hall Museum

3/7

Albert Hall Museum, also in Jaipur, is the oldest museum in the state. Designed by Sir Samuel Swinton Jacob, it opened to the public in 1887. Maharaja Ram Singh had wanted to use the building as a town hall, but Madho Singh II who succeeded him, sanctioned it to be the museum of local art and absorbed it as a part of Ram Nivas Garden. Isn’t it gorgeous even from the outside? The museum houses a staggering collection of historical artefacts such as paintings, sculptures, and jewellery.

A Camel Ride In Pushkar

4/7

Pushkar is a town in the Ajmer district of Rajasthan, bordering the Thar Desert. In this photo taken there, Anupam takes a moment to stand back and appreciate the camel in the desert. He looks plenty amazed by it, and we wonder if he ended up taking a ride on it after all!

A Scene From Udaipur

5/7

Udaipur is also known as the City of Lakes, and we can see why! The five main lakes, that are most famous here are Fateh Sagar Lake, Lake Pichola, Swaroop Sagar Lake, Rangsagar and Doodh Talai Lake. Pictured here is a view of the Fateh Sagar Lake. A glimpse of that sunset is absolutely to die for!

Branching Out

6/7

Here’s another one taken in Udaipur. Anupam is seen clearly enjoying the natural beauty of this city. The grove of trees overlooking the lake, with their hanging branches and colourful flowers are a sight to behold indeed. Doesn’t it make you want to visit already?

Lake Pichola

7/7

Taking in the scenic splendour of Lake Pichola, Anupam looks extremely fulfilled and as at peace as the serene waters around him. The clear blue of both lake and sky are wondrous and pristine, and the air must be a delight to breathe too! We definitely wish we could make a trip this place!
