Gautam Buddha, one of the most influential religious leaders of the world, who belonged to ancient India, left several teachings about peace, dharma, and karma, that a lot of people choose to follow even today. May 26 2021, is the birth anniversary of Buddha, which is celebrated in India as Buddha Purnima. On this auspicious day, let us revisit Himanshu Soni’s portrayal of Lord Buddha, in the Zee TV show, Buddha, and recall some of the biggest teachings of the Lord that we should learn.
In September 2013, Zee TV gave one of the best historical shows ever created – Buddha. Revolving around the life of Prince Siddhartha, who later became the religious leader, Gautam Buddha, the show starred actor Himanshu Soni in the title role. Buddha was one of the most well-directed and well-written historical shows.
Also, Himanshu Soni gave such a brilliant performance as Buddha, that the audience was left in awe with his portrayal. He and the series gained a lot of fan base and critical acclaim over its long run. The show also covered all the important and impactful events in the Buddha’s life. The show began the story from the events that took place before Prince Siddhartha’s birth, which explained how certain things happened later in the prince’s life and how they affected him leading him to become Lord Buddha.
Not only did the show Buddha give us the perfect presentation of the Lord’s life, but it also gave us some of his biggest teachings to follow. Among the many of Buddha’s teachings that we can learn from this show and his life, here are some that one should definitely practice in their lives:
1) Peace comes from within. Do not seek it outside, in other people, their treatment of you, or in materialistic things. You can only find your peace within yourself.
2) What we think, we become. Keep your mind pure, with clear and positive thoughts, for we become what we think.
3) Do not mourn for the past, do not worry about the future. Live in the present.
4) No matter what we say, others know us from the way we behave. Therefore, be mindful of your actions and behaviour, and only do good deeds.
5) You reap what you sow. Do good, and good is what will come back to you.
6) Have compassion for everyone.
The show, Buddha on Zee TV, did wonders not only in India but in other countries as well. The show was telecasted in ten other countries, namely, Cambodia, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Peru, Germany, USA, Canada, UK, and recently, in May 2020, in Mongolia.
