Throwback: When Popular Reality Show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Contestants Revisited Classic Hits

Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Punjabi has delivered beyond expectation. In its debut season, the show has shown the calibre of the heavy-duty music muqabala with promising emerging talents. Every contestant is a powerhouse himself and all they need is a little polishing and that’s where our judges, Jazzy B, Sonu Kakkar, Jaidev Verma and mentor Gurdas Maan come in.

One of the episodes of the Punjabi TV show was themed on classical Punjabi songs. Every contestant has to sing a cult classic and thus the competition became more challenging but the contestants were ready to take up the heat. The episode started with a combined performance where all the contestants sang and danced on the folk song Kanak Di Rakhi.

Then Phillaur’sĀ Rahul Mehra began the competition by singingĀ the classic song fromĀ Kara Ki Sifat Tere Ang Ang’sĀ Asi Alad Pune Wich. The judges were seen grooving to the song and after his performance, Rahul received specialĀ messages from his mentors, friends and it made him emotional. Sonu Kakkar called his voice as sweet as sugar, Jazzy Paaji also was impressed by his hard work and Jaidev Ji said that he keeps proving that he is a singer of a big league and will make it a big. He ended up scoring 29 out of 30.

Then Mehak Bamotra from Gurdaspur sang and performed on Gems of Punjab‘s hit song Kala Dooria. Mahek was herself enjoying the song so much that her energy transpired to every contestant and they started dancing too. After the performance, she got a special message from her favourite Jyotica Tangri cheering for her. Judge Sonu Kakkar liked her song and her perfect Punjaban look, he even said that she has lived the song. Mehak ended up scoring 28 out of 30.

Then Ludhiyana’s Mann Sagar charged up the stage by singing another classical,Ā Jogi Utar Pahado Aaya.Ā Mamta Bhardwaj and Mahek also added their voice to Maan’s vocals. By the end of the song, Jazzy gave him a standing ovation. Sonu also came on the stage and sang Dil Chori for him. However, Jaidev seemed a little disappointed and found Sagar distracted.Ā He ended up scoring 26 out of 30.

Then the episode became more interesting with duet performance, where boys and girls sang Tutak Tutak Tutiya and Hulle Hullare and judges found their performance entertaining.

After entertaining songs, Shubam Lodhi made everyone emotional by singingĀ Maa Hundi Ae Maa.Ā By the end of the song, Shubham got a standing ovation from all three judges but they found some mistakes in his singing, thus he earned 25 out of 30.
