TMC MP Saugata Roy Calls Mithun Chakarborty An Original Naxalite With No Credibility Or Influence Anymore
Trending NewsThe scathing comment came shortly after the Bollywood veteran joined hands with the BJP yesterday during PM Modi’s election campaign rally in Kolkata
Veteran Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty came under a scathing attack by the Trinamool Congress (TMC) following his induction to the rival Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) yesterday ahead of the West Bengal legislative polls.
Calling Chakraborty an original Naxalite, TMC Rajya Sabha MP Saugata Roy said that he holds no credibility, influence, or respect in the eyes of the public. He accused him of changing parties four times by first joining the CPM and then the TMC, when he was given a Rajya Sabha membership by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in 2014. The former union minister further stated that Mithun is a yesteryears actor and not a star of today, hence taking a jibe at the National Award winner’s irrelevance in the current times.
The film personality joined Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the latter’s Brigade Parade ground rally yesterday. Expressing his happiness over sharing the dais with the leader of the biggest democracy of the world, the actor spoke a few sentences to the cheering crowd in Bengali. Raising the slogan “Ek chhobole chhobi”, he called himself a cobra who will finish off the opponent in just one bite. Chakraborty added that by joining the saffron party, he was fulfilling his dream of working for the welfare of the poor and the underprivileged. Also present during his initiation to the BJP yesterday were members of the BJP WB core team, politicians Dilip Ghosh and Kailash Vijayvagiya.
