Well-known Tollywood producer RR Venkat passed in the early hours of Monday (September 27). He was suffering from a kidney ailment and was admitted to AIG Hospital in Gachibowli, Hyderabad. He was 54. He was suffering from kidney ailment for some time.
Career
Venkat produced a number of films, such as ‘Businessman’, ‘Don Seenu’, ‘Poola Rangadu’, ‘Mirapakay’, ‘Damarukam’ ‘Autonagar Surya’, ‘Paisa’, ‘Samanyudu’, ‘Prema Kavali’, ‘Gundammagari Manavadu’ , ‘Victory,’ Maayajaalam’, ‘Andhrawala’,and more. His most successful stint in his career was ‘Kick’. He had his own distribution house, R. R. Movie Makers.
Bollywood and Hollywood
His career as a producer extended beyond Tollywood to Bollywood and Hollywood. He bankrolled’ Divorce Invitation’, starring Jonathan Bennett and directed by S. V. Krishna Reddy, which was the remake of the latter’s directorial ‘Aahwanam’. He produced Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘James’ and ‘Ek Haseena Thi’.

Philanthropist
Venkat also did a lot of social work and was honoured in 2011 by the Open International University for Complementary Medicines at University of Colombo with an honorary doctorate for his contributions as a social worker.
Condolences
The film industry mourned his death and condolences came pouring in. Telugu film director Gopichand Malineni tweeted, “Rest in peace #RRVenkat Garu ..my debut film Donseenu producer ..very passionate film maker, encouraged me a lot ..my deepest condolences to his family.”
Film director Sreenu Vaitla also praised Venkat on Twitter and offered his condolences, “Sad to know about RR Venkat garu’s demise. Met him a couple of times and found him to be very passionate about movies. He was a man of guts and ambition. Praying for the strength to his family.”
Director Surender Reddy also condoled Venkat’s passing away and tweeted, “Extremely saddened to hear about the demise of senior producer #RRVenkat Garu. My deepest condolences to the family.”
Despite his successful career, Venkat maintained a low profile and did not seek the limelight.
