Sonali has shared a video pleading to put an end to violence with the hashtag #LockdownOnDomesticViolence that’s trending on social media.

The coronavirus pandemic is affecting health and the economy on an alarming global scale. The cases are on the rise and the virus has claimed thousands of lives across countries. As a result, the government has imposed a state of lockdown where people are now being asked to stay put at home to normalise the curve of the corona spread. While some are making the best use of their time at home and are able to live peacefully, some are suffering. The cases of domestic violence have risen three-fold and are a matter of concern to the police and the government. The unlawful hitting that a woman is subjected to on the pretext of being taught a lesson is known as domestic violence. Though this was prevalent before the lockdown, now it has risen as everyone is quarantined within their homes and as a result, asking or shouting for help would fall on deaf ears. Gulabjaam actress Sonali Kulkarni has shared a video related to this.

Watch her film here.

In the video, the actress can be seen with other stars including  Madhuri Dixit, Shreyas Talpade, Ajinkya Rahane, Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma. The actors are pleading with men to not indulge in domestic violence, and the women to not suffer quietly and instead, speak up. They can be seen asking citizens to report such heinous acts if it is in their neighborhood or even their own house. Watch the video below.

We appeal to you all as well to report such incidents and stay safe. Dial 100 and ask the police for help if you or anyone you know is being subjected to violence of any kind.
