Vishu 2021: Throwback to the musical Vishu surprise that didn’t let the pandemic spoil the celebration
BollywoodHere’s a pleasant throwback to when the Vishu celebrations went virtual and the finalists of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Keralam put together a mesmerising acapella performance online.
Vishu is coming right up and the festive spirit is coming to life around us. Marking the beginning of the Malayalam new year, the auspicious day celebrated by Malayalis around the world has a certain liveliness to it. Last year, just like many other celebrations, Vishu was also affected as the country went into the pandemic induced lockdown. Malayalis chose to celebrate the day by staying at home and keeping the celebrations low-key. Sure, it wasn’t as grand as other years, but our favourite Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Keralam contestants had something up their sleeves to brighten our day. The show’s finalists decided to join in the celebrations virtually and we couldn’t have gotten any happier.

Last year, thanks to the pandemic, we all stayed home and celebrated Vishu in our own ways and decided to settle with it. Amidst the tensions of the pandemic, the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Keralam contestants decided to set things right by wishing us all a happy Vishu with a mesmerising acapella performance online. The crew did the whole performance by staying at their own homes and through their mobile phone screens. Joining in through social media live, the team stepped up to the occasion and delivered one of the finest performances ever. As Malayalis across the world prepared Vishu Sadhyas at home, the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Keralam contestants helped in their own way with a beautiful Vishu special melody. The crew performed an acapella performance of the song Medaponnaniyum from the movie Devasuram. Originally sung by M.G. Sreekumar and B. Arundathi, the melody is one of the finest tracks that hold the spirit of Vishu, and the performers delivered it right.
