Yami Gautam Reveals Her Own Struggles Of Being An Outsider And Losing Out On Good Work!
Bollywood Actress Yami Gautam opens up about the hardships she faced during her initial days and how she deals with losing projects now.
Actress Yami Gautam has made her name in the film industry in the last few years with films like Vicky Donar, Uri: The Surgical Strike, Kaabil and Bala. But the fame and recognition did not come easy. Yami opens up in an interview about her struggles and her learning from her 11 year long career in the film industry.

During the interview, Yami was asked how hard it was for her to make a name in the showbiz without a Godfather. She said that it was tough initially because she had to handle many things on her own. Due to her non-filmy background, there were many things that people used to say and she had no idea about them. Yami added that there is an opinion about everything in the industry, like how one dresses, or does his/her hair and makeup, etc.

Yami recalls an incident where a renowned casting director told her that she should dress according to her age. She said that she does not know what that director meant. She questioned, “Isn’t it the job of the stylist and makeup artist to make me look the part? The rest will be my job as an actor.” She further added that whether she walks into a meeting wearing a kurti or jeans and top, that is her lookout.
When asked if she has lost projects and how it has made her feel, Yami answered that she has indeed lost many projects, but when that happens and some talented actor gets it instead, she does not feel bad. Knowing that fact only makes her want to work harder in future. She added that it is very important to be focused in what one wants to do instead of what they have lost.

Yami advised the newcomers of the industry to “Be Yourself”. She said nobody has to fit a given mold that they don’t believe in. One can only be happy if they work on projects that they believe in. Yami will be seen next in the horror comedy Bhoot Police and in the Abhishek Bachchan starrer Dasvi.
