TV shows have become part and parcel of everyone’s life and it influences audiences to a large extent. Some TV shows leave a lasting impression on the minds and soul of the viewers. There was a time when saas-bahu sagas ruled the small screens but now there are shows which educate audiences and that also deal with subjects which might have been taboo earlier.

Zee has given us many shows that have managed to break stereotypes, faiths and taboos. Let’s take a look at the list of these shows that are worth re-watching.

1. Saat Phere: Saloni Ka Safar

The serial Saat Phere: Saloni Ka Safar features Rajshree Thakur and Sharad Kelkar in lead roles. Actress Rajshree essays the role of Saloni who faces social discrimination due to her dark skin. Due to her sheer talent, she sets out an incredible journey and makes her own identity. Saloni breaks stereotypes and proves that one needn’t be fair-skinned to do well in life!

2. Qubool Hai

Qubool Hai is a Zee TV show which grabbed several eyeballs for its storyline. The show features Surbhi Jyoti and Karan Singh Grover playing the lead role of Zoya and Asad. The show showcases the story of two Muslim families and their journey. The show broke several stereotypes related to Muslim culture and traditions including women not being allowed to wear western outfits or to have options and opinions, no make-up, and much more. B

3. Ishq Subhan Allah

Ishq Subhan Allah  features Eisha Singh, Adnan Khan, and Tunisha Sharma in the lead roles. The show showcases varied topics that Muslims have to deal with including triple talaq, Sharia law, etc. Like Qubool Hai, the show has shown us the rich heritage of Muslim culture and also taught us to take a rational stance when it comes to religion.

4. Gangaa

Gangaa is an &TV show which deals with serious issues including the child widow custom which was quite popular in India. The storyline of the show revolves around Gangaa, a child widow who has to survive and live her life against all norms and rules laid by the society. Gangaa is a strong protagonist who aims at abolishing child widow culture and raises a strong objection against the societal norms that are being imposed on females.

5. Service Wali Bahu

Actress Kratika Sengar essayed the role of Payal who strikes a perfect balance between her career and personal life. In the show, Payal’s husband has no job and she supports her in-laws. Payal who is a civil engineer manages the household chores and her professional life quite well. She even deals with issues like dowry system and showcases the perfect picture of a strong woman who deals with various ups and downs in life.

6. Qurbaan Hua

Qurbaan Hua features Pratibha Ranta and Karan Jotwani in lead roles. The show is an intense drama about a Hindu guy Neel and Muslim girl Chahat. Chahat is a doctor by profession and belongs to a Muslim family, while Neel is the son of a priest but wants to be a chef. Under certain circumstances, Neel gets married to Chahat and saves her from problems. It showcases the beauty of every religion and teaches viewers how humanity is above everything, even above religion.
