1. The township of Vishakhapatnam

In just a few hours, we will all be glued to our screens as we binge-watch the latest ZEE5 Original Series Kailsapuram. The series has a grim and gruesome tone and explores social evils like drug addiction and peddling. Before we get into that, did you know that the location Kailasapuram actually exists on a map? Let’s take a look at four facts that make the place what it is.

Kailasapuram is a small township in the city of Vishakapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. It is a hilly area and is prone to landslides. Not a common occurrence, but the people of Kailasapuram live with their safety measures intact. In just the last decade, Kailasapuram has seen massive growth in migration, the number of businesses, other recreational places and a steady increase in the standard of living.

2. Heli-tourism

Many attempts have been made to bring in tourists to the areas in and around Vishakhapatnam. In order to do this, a heli-tourism plan was launched a few years ago. Today, they offer chartered helicopters and flights to tourists wanting to take a tour of the city that passes through the hills of Kailasapuram and Simhachalam.

3. Scuba diving

Close to Kailasapuram, there is a new tourist spot called Chintapalli. The shallow waters there and the easy means of transport have encouraged scuba diving. Since the advent of scuba diving here, tourists have been taking a trip to the little towns of Vishakhapatnam.

4. The dark underbelly

While the outer picture of Vishakhapatbam and its towns is painted in bright colours, there is an underbelly to this place. It all started when the freshly grown weeds in Araku Valley began to make the rounds of the places around it. That’s when the addiction to ganja became widespread and resulted in peddling beyond the local boundaries.

Watch the ZEE5 Original Kailsapuram to take a look at this underbelly. Until then, check out Ekkadiki Ee Parugu on ZEE5.
