1. Chandrayaan-2 Landing: ISRO's Moon Mission

#Chandrayaan2 | Chandrayaan-2 is all set to become India’s first spacecraft to land close to the lunar south pole in a few hours from now. 47 days after it was launched on 22 July 2019, Vikram, Chandrayaan-2 lander, shall decide the exact spot for a soft landing on the lunar surface between 1:30 am and 2:30 am on 7 September 2019. If all goes as planned, the touch down will take place 78 seconds later. Eyes and hopes of 130 crore Indians are glued to ISRO’s Moon Mission for no other space agency in the world has commissioned to reach the Moon’s south pole! This iconic feat does make India’s first-ever rover-based space mission on Moon, a source of a script for filmmakers in Bollywood.

What better way to study Chandrayaan 2 than bring the struggles and sacrifices, that went into making the mission a success, on the silver screen? Besides, the box office performances of several past films are a testimony that the Indian audience has developed an appetite for sci-fi thrillers. 2. Mission Over Mars (M-O-M)

Mission Over Mars (M-O-M) is an upcoming ZEE5 Original and ALTBalaji Original based on India’s remarkable mission to Mars. Starring Sakshi Tanwar, Mona Singh, Nidhi Singh, and Palomi Ghosh, the web series revolves around the female ISRO scientists who made India’s 2013 Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) aka Mangalyaan, a huge success! The digital drama takes the fictional route and starts streaming on ZEE5 10 September 2019 onwards.

3. Mission Mangal

Shepherded by Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari and Nithya Menon ‘s recently released film Mission Mangal is also based on Mars Orbiter Mission. The movie has been breaking all prior box-office records and has beaten Akshay’s Kesari. Need we say more?

4. Uri: The Surgical Strike

Uri: The Surgical Strike is Aditya Dhar’s directorial debut film which chronicles the events of the surgical strike conducted by the Indian Army Special Forces in retaliation to the killings of Indian army men by militants. The movie won Dhar the National Film Award for Best Direction while leading actor Vicky Kaushal too won one for Best Actor.

5. Parmanu: The story of Pokhran

Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran is a 2018 Hindi historical action drama film starring John Abraham, Diana Penty, Boman Irani, Anuja Sathe, Aditya Hitkari, Yogendra Tiku, and Zachary Coffin. The movie is based on the true story of India’s 1998 Pokhran nuclear test that led to India’s recognition as a full-fledged nuclear state and that went down as one of America’s biggest intelligence failure.

6. Paltan

Paltan (Click here to watch) is a 2018 action drama film starring Arjun Rampal, Sonu Sood, Harshvardhan Rane and Gurmeet Choudhary. This war film, directed by J.P. Dutta, is based on the 1967 Nathu La and Cho La clashes between the Indian and Chinese military.
