Exclusive: Home Minister Became A Movement In Maharashtra, Says Aadesh Bandekar

For the past 16 years, Zee Marathi’s popular show Home Minister went to every nook and corner of Maharashtra. This show broke barriers, as the masses and celebrities took time out of their busy schedule to chat with Aadesh Bandekar who made their time worth it. In this journey, the conversations sometimes took a personal turn which made interviewees and viewers emotional. Our lovely Aadesh Bhauji handled these situations by empathetically reaching out to the families who he interviewed. So, this time, as Home Minister is crossing the boundaries of Maharastra and doing the Bharat Daura, we caught up with Aadesh during the ZEE5 calendar launch for January 2020. Every evening, our chai time with family was dedicated to watching the fresh episodes of Home Minister. In this period, we didn’t realise the Marathi show finished over 5000 episodes and became one of the longest-running shows on the channel. When we asked Aadesh about achieving this feat, he modestly said, “I feel very happy. We completed 10 lakh kilometres by road in the journey which has spanned for 16 years. During this time, we got an opportunity to interact with thousands of families which in itself is a blessing.” Further, we were curious to know the memories which our Bhauji made while constantly travelling. The host said, “Initially, this show began as a source of entertainment but slowly went on to become a movement. Home Minister mended broken bonds and conveyed the importance of women in the house. Like, these two sisters, who were separated, were united because of the show.” He was quick to emphasise how drastically Home Minister transformed the perspective of people towards women who were in the limelight on the show.

Aadesh revealed that shooting of Home Minister Bharat Daura has already begun. He also confessed after stepping out of Maharashtra, he saw a part of the Maharashtrian culture reflected in every state.
