1. Kishori is a classical dancer
Apart from being a talented actress, she’s also an amazing classical dancer and has performed in a number of dance shows. She had also participated as a contestant in Zee Marathi’s dance reality show Eka Peksha Ek Apsara Aali. And who can ever forget her laavni performance in the film Navra Mazha Navsacha?
2. Kishori’s participation in talent shows
The actress studied in Mumbai’s reputed Mithibai college where she was crowned as the beauty queen. She participated in several beauty competitions and talent hunts. Her confidence in these shows proved that Kishori was meant to be on stage.
3. Her acting debut
She began her acting career as a child artist with a folk ballet called Durga Zhali Gauri. Kishori then acted in several plays before she eventually got spotted for films. Her debut film as a lead actress was Prem Karuya Khullam Khulla where she starred opposite Ashok Saraf and Laxmikant Berde. She was merely 16 back then. Since then there was no looking and before she completed her graduation, Kishori had already done over 20 films.
4. Her claim to fame
Kishori shot to fame with Maherchi Saadi where she was cast alongside Alka Kubal and Ramesh Bhatkar. The film went on to become the highest-grossing one ever in the history of Marathi cinema. Her acting talent came to everyone’s notice thereafter.
5. Her small-screen performances
During the shoot of Hafta Bandh, she was spotted by director Deepak Balraj Vij whom she eventually got married to. The actress was offered several roles in television. Her popular ones include Ghar Ek Mandir, Jassi Jaisi Koin Nahin and Sindoor.
6. Her directorial journey
After proving her mettle in acting, Kishori stepped on to directing. She won the Maharashtra State Award for the best editing for Mohityanchi Renuka. The film was both directed and produced by Kishori.
