The Coincidental Debuts
Manu and Mahie appear on the show to promote their film Doordarshan and Gurpreet took the opportunity to share that there is a strange coincidence they share. Ghuggi his film with Mahie, Chak De Phatte, and Manu Rishi’s debut Oye Lucky Lucky Oye, were released on the same day in 2008. So in a way, Mahie and Rishi share their debut date.
Mahie Gill OR Rimpy Gill
You’ll be surprised to know that Mahie never had a Naamkaran ceremony or a proper name. Her mother gave her the nickname ‘Rimpy’ and her family didn’t really think about her real name. Rimpy then went to live in a hostel while she was studying, and she had no official name to give! Later on, a grown-up Rimpy had a discussion with her family and decided to adopt the name ‘Mahie’.
Manu’s Struggle To Be An Actor
Manu is an acclaimed writer and a celebrated actor. However, he says that acting is his first love. When people didn’t give him a chance to speak dialogues in a movie, he decided to write the dialogues himself. Manu hails from a theatre background and he says that their people have to know everything. Here (in Bollywood), people depend on one skill and they live their whole life honing it. But he chooses not to do that, thus he’s active into the various fields of the film industry.
Mahie Is Thankful To Her Parents
Khusboo asks a very pertinent question to Mahie. She asks Mahie about her initial struggle in convincing her parents and relatives before stepping into the film industry. Mahie instantly acknowledges the fact that she’s fortunate enough to have parents who supported her dreams and didn’t listen to naysayers.
