1. Ravi Jadgav's love for cycles

When asked about what Ravi wanted to be when he was little, he said that he was always fascinated with bicycles. “I used to be fascinated with those that had bicycle shops. I dreamed of opening a shop too. But when I saw that it’s a lot of hard work, especially when it comes to pumping air into the tires of cycles, I gave up the dream.” Lol!

2. From Prabhadevi to Dombivli

Ravi revealed that he used to stay in a chawl in Prabhadevi and when his family’s financial situation improved, they moved to Dombivli. But the director said that he still missed his old place in Dombivli. “The way we used to celebrate films there, was on another level. Plus everyone used to have meals together, visit each other frequently, so it was like one big family. I’m used to that culture and I still miss it,” he said.

3. Ravi opened up about his family

The director revealed that he has two elder brothers and a sister. He added that even though their financial situation improved after Ravi became a successful director, one of his brothers still rides an auto rickshaw. “No matter how much our situation improves, my family is and will remain very simple. When Natrang released, he used to play songs from my film in his rickshaw. He used to tell people that his brother, meaning I, have directed the film and they would never believe him,” said Ravi. Wow, now that’s one hell of a revelation right?

4. Ravi talks about the time he almost got kicked out of the house!

Ravi revealed that his father encouraged him to take up science but he was never interested in the subject as he liked films. “I skipped the 12th exams and my father was furious. He almost kicked me out of the house and told me that from here on, he won’t give me a penny. I thank him till date as if he wouldn’t have done that, I wouldn’t be where I am today,” said the director.

5. Ravi talks about his struggle and journey into becoming a director

The Natrang director revealed that he perused his studies in JJ School of Arts and was picked up by an agency as a trainee. Adding to that, Ravi said, “The hierarchy is huge and it takes easily 10-12 years to reach the position of a creative director. But thankfully, I could become in under five years. I won several awards and got to work on tonnes of projects.”

Wow, way to go Ravi. Now that’s what we call dedication! Watch the whole episode above and tell us about your favourite moment in the comments section below. Catch all the episodes of Kanala Khada, streaming for free on ZEE5.
